Inflammation 101 – Acute vs Chronic
In this podcast Dr. Rodney and Karen talk about the benefits and harm of acute vs chronic inflammation. Inflammation is your body’s warning signal and is intended to be short-term.
Acute means it happens quickly because of something sudden like injury or infection. The good guys are trying to protect you from death.
Chronic means that it lasts for longer than six months and when it comes to inflammation means problems for your health.
One of your body’s defenses against inflammation is a cytokine storm. A cytokine is a small protein that serves as a communication system. It makes other immune cells move toward the target of a perceived enemy.
Your immune response is a blessing unless it’s out of control.
One of the things that brought this about is that we consume too many Omega 6 oils. Our Omega 6 – 3 ratio that is out of control is affecting our health and our personalities (more on that later.)
Inflammation issues are so common they seem normal. They are not and we can show you how to eliminate the causes of chronic inflammation in the next episodes of Stance for Health.
