3 Benefits of Stretching
Stretching is vital to your health and an easy habit to develop. Many people who exercise regularly forget the vital role that stretching plays in their overall health. Our own Dr. Rodney, learned that from personal experience.
For years I was an avid cyclist. During that time I competed several times in a 100 mile race in the heat of summer. It was aptly called Hotter than Hell. To prepare for it, I would ride as hard I could in the heat of summer. While my muscles were in great shape from all the cycling, my stretching routine shrunk.
I learned the hard way that I needed to invest the time to make stretching a regular activity in my day. Dr. Rodney
Stretching Promotes Circulation
You nourish your joints when you stretch because tendons and the ligaments around them do not have a source of blood flow. You bring the blood to it through inhibition. I good analogy for this would be like squeezing a sponge. The release brings nutrition to that joint. What is that nutrition? It’s everything you get through a direct blood flow to the bones and all the other tissues.
Stretching Improves Posture
Have you ever felt stiff after sitting for a long time? When you are sitting most of the time your muscles become imbalanced. Proper posture ensures that your muscles stay in alignment. A visit to your chiropractor makes a huge difference as well. We want to help you improve your posture through regular adjustments as well as posture rehabilitation.
Stretching Increases Your Energy
Our bodies were designed for sprints or short bursts of energy. Stretching needs to be done consistently over short periods of time and throughout the entire day. After sitting all day, it is crucial to stretch frequently and consistently. Your body will thank you with renewed energy and vitality.
Here’s a good measurement for your stretches – 20 seconds every 20 minutes while looking out 20 yards.
Find a place where you can look out at a green space and stretch. Maintain good posture during the stretches.
