Eat and Drink to Improve Neuroplasticity
In this podcast, Dr. Rodney and Karen talk about how to improve your neuroplasticity – the way your brain is functioning. When neurons fire together and follow repeated patterns they tend to wire together.
What you eat and drink affects your brain. Here are a few easy ways to get the neurons to wiring and firing together.
1) Water is essential for your brain to work properly.
Also, be aware of what you drink that is a diuretic so be sure to drink extra water.
2) Coffee can help your attention span.
It is even more effective if you add MCT oil derived from coconut oil. Just be sure to cut back on the sugar and milk products that are in many coffee drinks.
3) Avoid sugary drinks (even juice).
4) Good fats from fish such as salmon, anchovies and sardines help your brain.
Avoid tuna because of mercury.
5) Eggs give you vitamins B6 and B12.
Choline is in the yolk because it is converted in neurotransmitters.
6) Eat good oils.
Olive oil and avocado oil should be on your shelf. Remove all seed oils.
7) Eat dark leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables and asparagus.
They provide folate and anti-inflammatory compounds.
8) Eat mushrooms
They have specific cognitive effects. They boost anti-inflammatory processes.
9) Add turmeric to your food
It contains curcumin and crosses the brain barrier. It is an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory.
